The BCS of fuel gas at the Grozny TPP has undergone its first maintenance since commissioning

8 April 2020

The booster compressor station consisting of three modular compressor units (CU) provides designed parameters of fuel gas (on temperature, pressure, and flow rate) and its feeding to the power plant turbines.

This equipment is the most powerful among all 233 gas compressor units of screw type, put into operation by ENERGAS Group specialists. The rated capacity of each booster compressor is 34,200 kg / h, and the maximum – 39,240 kg / h, which is up to 100% of the design gas fuel consumption per turbine.

The frequency of maintenance depends here on the operating time and the number of CU starts. Scheduled works are carried out every 4,000 running hours or every 100 starts. In the course of first maintenance, the following service activities were performed:

- Replacement of consumables (gas and oil filters, oil in the bearings of the motors);
- Check the alignment of rotating units (compressors and motors);
- Gaps measure and checking the status of the internal components of the compressors;
- Adjustment and calibration of position sensors and positioning of valves and hydraulic controllers;
- Functional tests of the oil system and cooling system of the compressor units;
- Verification of operational parameters of the CU and their adjustment;
- Troubleshooting, drafting recommendations on components replacement.

Set of works has been fulfilled by engineers of the ServicENERGAS Company (part of ENERGAS Group).

The Grozny TPP comprises two power generating unit, the first of which was put into operation in December 2018, and the second – in June 2019. Each power generating unit with capacity of about 180 MW consists of SGT5-2000E gas turbine unit manufactured by Siemens Gas Turbine Technology LLC. It should be noted that on the power unit No. 2 the newest version of this turbine is installed.

The thermal power plant has become one of the most important elements of the power system of the Chechen Republic. It reduces the problem of electric power shortage in the region, as well as increases the reliability of the Chechen power system and the southeastern part of the UPS of the South as a whole under conditions of an increase in load forecast.

During the TPP construction, special focus was paid to the introduction of equipment and process systems of Russian manufacturers. Among them automation systems, relay protection, dry fan cooling towers, chimneys with an emission monitoring system, gas treatment units, equipment for water cleaning, electrical components for switchgears.

The operating company of power plant is PJSC Wholesale Generation Company OGC-2. The project has been implemented by the Gazprom Energoholding Group within the framework of a system of capacity supply agreements (CSA). The Grozny TPP is the final CSA project of the Group’s companies.

REFERENCE. Gazprom Energoholding manages the Gazprom Group companies in the electric power industry and is the leader in the production of thermal and electric energy by thermal generation companies in Russia. The plants of Gazprom Energoholding generate about 1/6 of the total electricity of the Unified Energy System of Russia. The main production companies of Gazprom Energoholding are PJSC Mosenergo, PJSC TGC-1, PJSC OGC-2 and PJSC MOEK.
