Budyonnovsk TPP: 5 years of energy generating for consumers in Stavropol region
27 June 2020
On June 25, 2015 in the city of Budyonnovsk (Stavropol Territory) at the production site of Gas Chemical Complex of Stavrolen there was commissioned a thermal power plant with installed capacity of 136 MW. Budyonnovsk TPP became a part of LUKOIL-Stavropolenergo and at the time of launch it became the largest facility of distributed generation of southern Russia.
During construction there were built new and renovated existing substations and power lines. As a result, the formed energy structure enhanced the industrial potential of the eastern zone of Stavropol region, provided reliable electricity supply for residents of Budyonnovsk Technology Park, and also satisfied the energy needs of Stavrolen GCC.
TPP was created on the basis of highly efficient combined cycle gas turbine unit (CCGT) with design electric capacity of 135 MW and thermal capacity of 40 Gcal / h. In condensation mode, the power generating unit can reach a maximum capacity of up to 160 MW. The main equipment of CCGT-135: two Siemens gas turbine units of type Industrial Trent 60 WLE, two PK-93 waste-heat boilers manufactured by ZIO Podolsk, a Siemens SST-400 steam turbine.
At present, the main fuel for the power plant is high-pressure natural gas. However, the project provides for the possibility of CCGT operation with associated petroleum gas from fields of LUKOIL in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. Taking into account this, the facility is equipped with a booster compressor station (BCS).
BCS is in hot standby and, if necessary, will ensure treatment (fine purification and compression) and feeding of APG to the turbines under the required operating pressure of 5.8 MPa. BCS is composed of three compressor units manufactured by Swiss enterprise Enerproject SA. Capacity of each unit is 815 m3 / h. Commissioning of the gas treatment equipment was fulfilled by ENERGAS Company, the official representative of Enerproject SA in Russia and CIS countries.
