The next power facility is put into operation on the investment program of Quadra OJSC

14 July 2011

With gas turbine unit (GTU-30) launch, the project of reconstruction of the Kaluga CHPP is completed. The official commissioning took place after 72-hours integrated testing of generating and process equipment. The certification carried out later confirmed the installed electrical capacity of the power facility which is 30 MW.

The new power generating unit was created on the basis of the LM2500+G4 DLE gas turbine produced by GE Energy and the steam waste-heat boiler manufactured by NPO Barnaul boiler equipment plant.

After the upgrade, the total electric capacity of the CHPP increased to 41.8 MW, the thermal capacity is 110.1 Gcal / h. The use of modern combined-cycle technologies has made it possible to substantially reduce specific fuel consumption and reduce the cost of heat energy. The total cost of the project amounted to 1.7 billion rubles.

Compressing and supply of fuel to the turbine at a working pressure of 3.7 MPa are carried out by a modern two-stage compressor unit (BCU) with a capacity of 11,600 m3 / h.

The capabilities of this BCU make it possible to compress gas in two steps without intermediate cooling. This technology ensures the stable operation of the compressor unit over the entire range of pressure changes at the suction, regardless of the feeding line.

The BCU is housed in its own sound-absorbing shelter, operates in automatic mode and is equipped with life support systems (heating, ventilation, and lighting) and safety (fire detection and fire extinguishing, gas detection, and alarm). The compressor unit was supplied and prepared for operation by ENERGAS.

The construction of GTU-30 MW at Kaluga CHPP is part of the investment program of Quadra OJSC, which envisages the construction of new power generating units with a total installed capacity of 1092 MW until 2015.

In the current year, the Quadra has already prepared the CCGT-115 MW for the launch at the boiler house of the North-West District of Kursk and plans to complete the construction of two other facilities – GTU-30 MW at Livny CHPP and CCGT-190 MW at Novomoskovsk SDPS.
