Verkhne-Nadymskaya GTPP is equipped with fuel gas booster compressor station

27 February 2008

The construction of a gas turbine power plant at the Verkhne-Nadymskoye field (Yamalo-Nenets AO) has been completed. The new GTPP became the sixteenth own power plant operating at the fields of OJSC “Surgutneftegas”. To date, the total capacity of the company's generating equipment has reached about 400 MW. Until 2010, it is planned to increase this figure to 500 megawatts of own capacities.

The base of the plant consists of four gas turbine units GTA-6RM, designed and manufactured by NPO Saturn and OJSC Saturn-Gas Turbines. The installed capacity of the GTPP is 24 MW.

As fuel, there is used associated petroleum gas, coming from the last stages of oil separation. The implementation of the project allowed increasing the share of APG recovery at “Surgutneftegas” production facilities to 94,8%.

At the GTPP there is operating a fuel gas booster compressor station of the company ENERGAS. The BCS includes three compressor units that purify and compress APG to 2.7 MPa for its subsequent feeding to the turbines.

The units (pictured below) are based on screw oil-filled compressors; they include a reliable multi-stage filtration system, as well as a system for maintaining the design temperature of the gas feeding, so that gas at the outlet meets the established requirements for purity, pressure and temperature.

Supply of booster compressor equipment and performance of the whole complex of pre-launch activities, including erection supervision, commissioning and testing, were carried out by the technicians and engineers of ENERGAS.

REFERENCE:

The Verkhne-Nadymskoye oil and gas field is located on the border of the Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Areas. It is characterized by an increased gas factor, which requires compliance with enhanced safety measures. Oil production is complicated by a large amount of asphalt-resin and paraffin deposition in wells. The construction of GTPP-24 was carried out here as part of the energy project of OJSC Surgutneftegas to create its own generating capacities.

The development of field is carried out by Nizhnesortymskneft OGPD, the northernmost Oil and Gas Production Department of company. The peculiarities of the enterprise include oil production in difficult, unique conditions of the marshland. Today OGPD develops about a third of all Surgutneftegas fields. The main part of the reserves is low-permeability oil deposits.
