The ENERGAS gas treatment system provides fuel for the gas turbine unit of reconstructed Mogilev CHPP-1

The task of upgrading the Mogilev CHPP-1 was to create a highly efficient power unit capable of reduce specific emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere and reduce the amount of natural gas consumption. The customer is RUE Mogilevenergo.Within project, gas turbine unit LM2500+ (manufactured by the GE) with electrical capacity of 26.5 MW, and waste-heat boiler with steam capacity of 40 ton / h were put into operation at the facility. The project was implemented by the Technoserv Russian Company.

As a result, the power plant electrical capacity increased to 47.7 MW, and the annual output of heat increased 1.7 times. The new power generating unit is designed for operation in cogeneration mode and is integrated into existing technological scheme of CHPP with discharge of steam into the overall line.
The MCHPP-1 upgrade allows to ensure additional power generation 157.6 million kWh a year, saving almost 18 thousand tons of reference fuel per year, improve the environment by reducing emissions from the CHPP, increase maneuverability of the power grid, the reliability of heat and power supply to all kind of consumers.
Fuel for the gas turbine unit is natural gas. Its treatment and feeding to the turbine are provided by special process equipment – gas treatment system (GTS) of ENERGAS.

The ENERGAS GTS comprises:
– Booster compressor station (BCS) including two package units with capacity of 8,850 m3 / h each. BCS compresses gas to the required operating level (3.72 MPa);
– High-efficiency separators (filters-scrubbers). Two-stage scrubbers are built into block-modules of BCS and they perform gas purification at inlet of compressor units. The degree of gas purification from solids and condensed moisture rises to 99.98%;
– Underground drainage tank for condensate gathering, equipped with a level sensor and a pump for discharge condensate and sludge.
Phased commissioning of the gas treatment system was carried out by the ServicENERGAS (part of companies group ENERGAS). Technicians have performed erection supervision, start-up and adjustment works, individual testing, and comprehensive verification of GTS in conjunction with generating equipment of the power plant, as well as training of operating staff.

Earlier the ENERGAS has supplied and commissioned gas treatment equipment for the CCGT of Mogilev CHPP-3. Upgrade of MCHPP-3 with use modern combined-cycle technologies also was carried out by the Technoserv.
