Gas treatment stations for a large-scale Belarusian energy project are undergoing tests at the ENERGAS Group manufacturing site

5 February 2021

A large-scale project is being implemented in the Republic of Belarus to create peak-standby energy sources based on Siemens SGT-800 gas turbine units. At the Minsk CHPP-5 will operate gas turbine power plant (GTPP) with a capacity of 300 MW consisting of 6 gas turbines, at the Berezovskaya SDPP – GTPP-254MW (5 turbines), at the Lukomlskaya SDPP – GTPP-150MW (3 turbines), at the Novopolotsk CHPP – GTPP-100MW (2 turbines).

As part of this project, the ENERGAS Company supplies set of gas treatment equipment that comprises four gas receiving stations – one for each peak GTPP. Stations are the gas treatment stations (GTS) providing the design parameters of the fuel before its feeding into turbines of power generating units.

The purpose of GTSs is purification, heating and flow measuring of gas. The capacity of units is from 29,210 to 87,506 m3 / h. Stations are placed in their own enclosures and are equipped with necessary engineering systems, including life support and safety systems. GTSs are fully automated; control will be carried out from the upper level of the automated process control systems of power plants.

Currently, the gas treatment stations are undergoing factory tests before shipment. Under the supervision of customer representatives (Siemens Energy AB), the operability of process, measuring and analytical, and electrical equipment is being checked.
