Low pressure booster compressor station of the ENERGAS is put into operation at the Alekhinskoye field

29 December 2008

The next stage of implementation of the Program of measures for the use of associated petroleum gas of Surgutneftegas OJSC was completed. In December of this year, a low pressure booster compressor station (BCS, manufactured by the Swiss company Enerproject SA) was put into operation at the CPF (Central Production Facility) of Alekhinskoye field of the Nizhnesortymskneft Oil and Gas Production Department.

As part of BCS there are operating five compressor units (CU) of type EGSI-S-650/1500WA with unit capacity up to 7 thousand m3 / h. The units purify and compress associated gas from the end separation stage and pump it into a gas pipeline at pressure of 1.7 MPa.

The project has several features. One of them is the lack of inlet gas pressure. It was taken into account at the design and production stages; some elements of the CUs were upgraded (for example, inlet and outlet valves), as well as it was installed additional equipment – system of oxygen detection in gas flow. In oil system of CUs are used special lubricants with higher viscosity and high resistance to saturation from the heavy hydrocarbons.

Against the background of difficult climatic conditions, the equipment was also equipped with an improved cooling system. The problems accompanying compression of associated gas of increased density, which comes from OPPS (Oil Processing and Pumping Shop), were solved by increasing the oil and gas operating temperatures.

The supply and step-by-step commissioning of the booster compressor station (erection supervision, start-up and adjustment works, and cycle of tests) were performed by the ENERGAS Company which is official representative and partner of the Enerproject SA in Russia.

REFERENCE. Alekhinskoe oil field – one of the oldest, put into development in 1985. The uniqueness of the field lies in the fact that it has four oil-bearing formations, whereas in other developments it is usually one or two. The peak of production was in 1991, when raised almost 2 million tons of oil from the depths.

Nizhnesortymskneft OGPD – the most northern Oil and Gas Production Department of Surgutneftegas OJSC – was established in 1989. The peculiarities of the enterprise include oil production in difficult, unique conditions of the marshland. Today, OGPD is developing 18 fields, which is one third of all Surgutneftegas fields. The main part of the reserves is low-permeability oil deposits.
