Moscow International Business Center "Moscow-City" receives electricity and heat from Mezhdunarodnaya TPP
11 November 2007
The 1st power generating unit of the Mezhdunarodnaya TPP with installed electrical capacity of 121.3 MW and a thermal capacity of 205 Gcal / h was commissioned in the Central Administrative District of Moscow. The thermal power plant will provide energy to the Moscow International Business Center "Moscow-City" and a number of other facilities of the capital. It is planned to annually direct to consumers more than 1.5 billion kWh of electricity and 800 thousand Gcal of heat. The project of the power plant is based on a highly efficient and environmentally friendly combined-cycle technology (on basis of CCGT) using SGT-800 gas turbine units produced by Siemens.
The 1st power generating unit (CCGT-120) comprises two SGT-800 gas turbines with capacity of 45.6 MW each, two Alstom steam waste-heat boilers, and Siemens SST-700 steam turbine with electric capacity of 30 MW. A water-heating boiler with a capacity of 130 Gcal / h is installed as the peak heat source.
The main and reserve fuel for TPP is natural gas. The treatment and supply of fuel gas to the turbines of CCGT-120 are provided by the compressor station consisting of 3 booster compressor units (BCU), which compress gas from 0.25 MPa to 3.1 MPa. Capacity of each BCU is 18,000 m3 / h.
Compressor units were supplied to the facility maximally prefabricated – in a modular design. This allowed, after installing the modules on the foundation, to carry out erection supervision, start-up and adjustment works, and set of tests as soon as possible – in a month and a half. All BCU’s assemblies were mounted on a single frame, including the control compartment, separated from the process part by a gas-tight partition. Air cooling system is located on the roof of the unit. Thus, the individual designing of the equipment layout took into account the limited size of the facility.
All the works on commissioning of fuel gas BCU were performed by specialists of the ENERGAS Company.

The project of Mezhdunarodnaya TPP provides for the creation of another combined-cycle plant. In terms of equipment, power generating unit No. 2 is similar to CCGT-120 with a small difference in total electric capacity, which will be 116 MW. Its construction is planned to be completed in 2009.
