The ENERGAS compressor station supplies fuel gas to the turbines of the Novopolotsk peak-standby energy source

The station consists of two gas-booster units intended to compress and feed fuel to the turbines at a pressure of 3 MPa.A 100 MW gas turbine power plant (GTPP) based on two Siemens SGT-800 turbines operates at the Novopolotsk CHPP. It is one of four peak-standby energy sources (PSES) built for the unified power grid of the Republic of Belarus.
The Russian company ENERGAS has equipped the Novopolotsk PSES with a booster compressor station. BCS consists of two packaged compressor units (CU) intended to compress and feed fuel to the GTPP turbines at a pressure of 3 MPa. Units operate in 1+1 mode (one machine in operation, other in the hot-standby).

Both CUs made based on screw oil-filled compressors with a maximum capacity of 21,960 kg / h each. The actual gas flow rate depends on the GTPP load and is controlled in the range from 0 to 100% of nominal. For control, a special two-circuit regulation system is applied.
The process flow scheme of BCS provides for the stable maintenance of the design fuel temperature. The delivery lines of the CUs are equipped with heat exchangers which cool the working medium to the level of the optimum gas supply temperature (+85°C) established by the turbines manufacturer and terms of the project.
The required parameters of the fuel gas in terms of purity are guaranteed by the multistage filtration system of CU: inlet protective strainer, oil-gas separator of the 1st stage of purification and coalescing (safety) filter of the 2nd stage. Residual content of impurities in gas at the outlet of the BCS does not exceed 0.5 ppmw (mg / kg).

BCS is fully automated. Local control systems of compressor units are made based on microprocessor technology, using modern software, switching equipment, channels and protocols of communication.
Gas-booster units are housed in their own shelters of container type, equipped with life support systems. According to safety requirements, CUs are equipped with fire detection, gas detection, alarm and fire extinguishing systems.
REFERENCE:
Novopolotsk CHPP is the branch of RUE Vitebskenergo. Its installed capacity is 373 MW. Annual electricity output amounts to 0.6-0.8 billion kWh, and issue of heat ranges from 2.6 to 3 million Gcal.
