Gas-turbine Belgorod CHPP has passed the stage of 15 years of efficient operation
28 November 2022
CHPP is part of the Belgorod branch of PJSC Quadra and is the largest power plant in the region. On November 28, 2007, a gas-turbine central heating and power plant (GT-CHPP) was launched in Belgorod. Construction of GT-CHPP was carried out within the enlargement project of the Belgorod CHPP. The gas-turbine add-on, consisting of two power units, operates in cogeneration cycle and provides combined energy generating.

The building of a new generating facility was due to an increase in the rate of housing construction and, as a result, a shortage of energy capacities.
Mikhail Chefranov, Managing Director of the Belgorod branch of PJSC Quadra: "Growing and actively developing Belgorod needed new capacities, and we provided a margin of safety - in 2005 we built the CHPP Luch, and 2 years later, a similar gas turbine power plant on the territory of the Belgorod CHPP, what was an important step towards the energy independence of the city and the Region".
The basis of each power unit is a GE gas turbine unit of LM2500+DLE HSPT type with an electric capacity of 30 MW and a water-heating waste-heat boiler with a thermal capacity of 30.2 Gcal / h with closed and external circuits.
Gas turbines are equipped with combustion chambers with a system for dry suppression of emissions (DLE technology), what minimizes the entry of harmful substances into the atmosphere – nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO).
The main and reserve fuel for GT-CHPP is natural gas. The supply of the power units with fuel with the specified design parameters in terms of purity (content of impurities does not exceed 2 mg / kg), temperature (+60°C), pressure (3.7 MPa) and flow rate (20,000 m3 / h) is carried out by the ENERGAS compressor station consisting of two gas booster units.
Compressor machines are fully automated, they were designed and manufactured taking into account the specific standards for noise characteristics of the equipment. Process units are placed in special sound-insulating enclosures, due to that all necessary norms are observed.

GT-CHPP is located in the city boundaries and fully complies with the established requirements for the level of environmental pollution and noise impact.
For 15 years since the commissioning, the gas turbine power units have generated 4.1 billion kWh of electricity and 4.2 million Gcal of heat. Scheduled repairs, timely maintenance, upgrade of generating and process equipment guarantee high reliability and efficiency of the facility.
The Belgorod CHPP was put into operation in November 1938 and is one of 30 power plants built under the State Plan for Electrification of Russia (GOELRO). Being the largest in Belgorod, the CHPP provides energy to the Left Bank, Central and Northern districts of the city. At present, the electric capacity of the station is 60 MW, the thermal capacity is 360.4 Gcal / h.

REFERENCE:
Among the priorities of the ENERGAS Group are production, comprehensive commissioning and maintenance of gas treatment and compression units for generating facilities in the electric power industry, oil and gas complex and industrial enterprises. The ENERGAS process equipment today provides high-quality fuel for 230 gas turbines and gas-reciprocating units with a total capacity of over 6.7 GW.
