Low-pressure gas compressor units as part of the CSLS at North-Labatyugan field: 10 years of reliable operation
25 December 2025
In 2015, booster pump station No. 3 of North-Labatyugan field of Surgutneftegas PJSC was equipped with compressor station of low separation stages (CSLS). Designer of the project is SurgutNIPIneft; the construction has been carried out by Department of intrafield extraction and use of petroleum gas.The basis of CSLS was made up of two compressor units (CU) of low pressure. CUs with capacity of 3,500 m3 / h each perform final purification and compressing associated gas, coming from the second oil separation stage and buffer separators, and injection it into the pipeline of external transport under pressure of 0.7 MPa.

Block-modular units made based on screw oil-filled compressors and are placed in their own shelters which equipped with safety systems and life support systems.
Gas flow filtration at the inlet of compressor is provided by high-efficient filter-separator – two-stage scrubber with automatic condensate drainage system. Taking into consideration minus inlet pressure of APG (-0.02 MPa) each CU is equipped with oxygen detection system that determines its content in compressible gas.
The units are fully automated. Their control systems are based on microprocessor technology, using modern software, switching equipment and communication channels and protocols. The local ACSs are integrated with the upper level of the APCS.

According to the project parameters, low-pressure CUs are operable in extreme climatic conditions (minimum air temperature – minus 55°С, average air temperature of the coldest five days – minus 43°С).
Operation mode of compressor units as part of the facility of oil-and-gas production complex is continuous with scheduled shutdowns for maintenance. Inside modules of special Arctic type there is provided open space for easy and comfortable access to all assemblies and elements what provides possibility for all-season performing of service activities.

Supply, pre-start preparation and commissioning of equipment were carried out by the company ENERGAS.
