ENERGAS gas compressor unit for GTU-30 of the Kaluga CHPP – 5 years of reliability operation

27 June 2016

Fuel treatment for GTU-30 which operates at the Kaluga CHPP is provided by the ENERGAS gas compressor unit.

This is the first contract of company ENERGAS for the supply of two-stage compressor unit (CU). The capabilities of this CU make it possible to compress gas in two steps without intermediate cooling. This technology ensures the stable operation of the compressor unit over the entire range of pressure changes at the suction, regardless of the feeding line.

Project was performed within frames of Kaluga CHPP reconstruction. In 2011 here there was commissioned gas turbine unit with capacity of 30 MW. The new power generating unit was created on the basis of the LM2500+G4 DLE gas turbine produced by GE Energy and the steam waste-heat boiler manufactured by NPO Barnaul boiler equipment plant.

After the upgrade, the total electric capacity of the CHPP increased to 41.8 MW. The use of modern technology lets significantly reduce the specific fuel consumption and reduce the prime cost of produced energy.

CU implements compressing and feeding fuel to the turbine under operating pressure of 3.7 MPa. Gas flow rate is 11,600 m3 / h and is controlled by means of the two-tier capacity regulation system. The unit is placed in own sound-absorbing enclosure and operates in automatic mode; it is equipped with life support systems and safety systems.

After a trouble-free run time of more than 12 thousand hours, engineers of LLC ServicENERGAS (companies group ENERGAS) carried out comprehensive maintenance of the equipment.

REFERENCE. The GTU-30 construction at the Kaluga CHPP was performed on investment program of Quadra OJSC, within frames of which there was built a number of new power generating units with total installed capacity of 1092 MW.
