ENERGAS supplied a booster compressor station to provide fuel gas for the plant's power supply complex of the JSC Chernyshev MME

5 October 2008

Moscow Machine-Building Enterprise named after V.V. Chernyshev is building an autonomous power supply complex – a gas turbine power plant (GTPP) of cogeneration cycle. The power supply complex will provide electricity and heat to the own needs of the enterprise, as well as nearby enterprises.

The basis of the GTPP is two gas turbine units of type GTE-20/55ST with waste-heat boilers. The electric capacity of each unit is 20 MW (with an efficiency of 30%); thermal capacity is 30 Gcal / h with a fuel utilization factor of 82%.

The production of GTE-20/55ST is based on the converted aircraft engine R-29-300. The main changes in the design of the basic drive touched the fuel combustion system (operation on natural gas), the ACS of the engine and the launch system (electric start).

To ensure required gas pressure at the turbines inlet (2.5 MPa), a booster compressor station will be used. BCS of fuel gas includes two compressor units (CU) in container design.

CU’s capacity is 7,500 m3 / h each. Gas flow rate is regulated by a two-tier system: in the range of 15 ... 100% of the nominal capacity – with the help of a compressor spool; in the range of 0 ... 15% – bypass line. This system allows a stable and continuous fuel supply under all operating modes of conjugated power generating units.

The compressor station will operate in automatic mode. Local unit’s ACSs are integrated into a group automated control and monitoring system that coordinates the operation of these compressor units as part of the BCS and provides connection with the upper level of the APCS.

The process flow diagram of the CUs also provides for ensuring the design temperature of gas feeding to the turbines of GTPP.

At present, the BCS of fuel gas has been delivered to the construction site of the power supply complex. The supplier of the compressor equipment is Russian company ENERGAS.
