BCS of ENERGAS provides fuel for a gas turbine power plant at the Talakan field of Surgutneftegas
26 September 2009
The third launch complex is put into operation as a part of the gas turbine power plant of Talakan field.
Talakan GTPP provides power to the production and infrastructure facilities of the fields of OJSC Surgutneftegas in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as well as the oil pumping stations of the main oil pipeline ESPO.
The simple cycle power plant, designed by the SurgutNIPIneft Institute, was built in two stages. The first stage, constructed in 2008, has included two launch complexes with total electrical capacity of 96 MW. Another 48 MW was added by the third complex, a second stage of construction. In total, the GTPP comprises nine 16 MW power generating units produced by OJSC Sumy NPO named after Frunze.

The power generating units are made on the basis of NK-16ST gas turbine engines (OJSC KMPO). The total installed capacity of the power plant is 144 MW; this is the largest auxiliaries GTPP of Surgutneftegas.
The fuel used is associated petroleum gas produced at the field.
Treatment and feeding of APG to turbines are carried out by a booster compressor station of hangar (intrashop) type, consisting of six compressor units (CU) with a unit capacity of 9,000 m3 / h. In accordance with the project, CUs are located in two separate capital buildings, complete with life support and safety systems.

The units are equipped with two-level capacity control systems, individual ACS, as well as a group system of automated control and monitoring integrated into the GTPP APCS. The operating mode of the CU in the oil and gas production facility is continuous, with planned maintenance stops.
Final gas purification at the inlet to each compressor is provided by highly efficient separators – two-stage filters-scrubbers with automatic drainage system. It is possible to quickly replace filter elements.
Compressor units compress gas from 0.4 MPa to the required working pressure of 2.8 MPa; they also maintain the design temperature of fuel feeding to the combustion chambers of turbines.
The entire set of pre-start operations on gas treatment and gas feeding process equipment was performed by ENERGAS. Its specialists carried out erection supervision, start-up and adjustment works, own tests, integrated testing of the CU during the trial run of the GTPP, as well as training of operating personnel.

REFERENCE. Talakan is a large oil and gas condensate field located in the south-west of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the middle reaches of the Lena River, 300 km from the city of Kirensk (Irkutsk Region).
In December 2003, OJSC Surgutneftegas received a license for exploration and development of the Talakan field for a period of 20 years. In February 2005, the first oil rig was built. By 2008, 48 wells were drilled.
Prior to the commissioning of the new GTPP, the field facilities were provided with electricity from a gas reciprocating power plant with a capacity of 12 MW, launched in early 2007.
