30 years of growth of the Igolsko-Talovoye field - the "black pearl" of Vasyugan
3 December 2021
In 1991, the development of the Igolsko-Talovoye field of JSC Tomskneft VNK started – the most prominent field as part of Vasyugan oil-producing region of the Tomsk Region. In the late 70s, the Western Oil Exploration Expedition discovered this field. After extracting the first oil, specialists from all over the country began to travel to Vasyugan. Boris Petrovich Krupovsky became the senior geologist here. He was the first to assert that industrial oil could be produced in the New Vasyugan area.
In 1978, the head of the Tomsk Region, the first secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Yegor Kuzmich Ligachev, named the goal: the Tomsk Region should produce 12-14 million tons of oil per year. By that time, Tomskneft was producing 7 million, and at first, it seemed impossible to increase the production by the same amount. However, Ligachev's confidence in his fellow countrymen yielded results.
An increase in production was particularly expected from Vasyugan, where in the 60s, geologists discovered several deposits: in the 1965 - Katylginskoye, in the 1967 - Olenye, after another 2 years - Pervomaiskoye. By 1976, the reserves of the Vasyugan group amounted to 100 million tons of "black gold".
In the 90s, oil workers moved to the south of Vasyugan. The Igolskaya part of the Igolsko-Talovoye field went into development. Electricity was supplied, the road was completed, and drilling began. The expanded Igol oil field was created to speed up the work, and the trial operation of pioneer wells began. Here, the first stage of the central production facility was built, a water supply well, a temporary version of an electric boiler house and three residential complexes were commissioned.
In 1991, the field produced 80 thousand tons of oil, and after four years - half a million tons.
In 2006, with the development of the Talovaya area, a construction spree began when 30 contractors worked on a small site of South Vasyugan. The population of the shift camp has increased to one thousand people. Oil construction continued throughout the year, dumping roads, laying pipelines, erecting production facilities and drilling wells. Oil production at Igol has acquired an industrial scale.
According to the geological classification, the reserves of the Igolsko-Talovoye field can be classified as large and, at the same time, complex. The very same oil is "found" here of good quality – relatively light, low-sulfur, with a small content of paraffin and asphalt-resinous substances.
Igol is one of the key sites for the implementation of Tomskneft's strategic gas program. Two gas turbine power plants operate here – GTPP-24 and GTPP-12, which convert associated petroleum gas into electricity required for infrastructure and process facilities.

The launch of these GTPP with a total capacity of 36 MW fully revealed the potential of the region's fields, ensured an extensive development of production activities, increased the rational use of APG and, accordingly, the efficiency of oil and gas production, helped reduce the stress on the environment and improve the ecological situation at the fields of Vasyugan.
The team of the ENERGAS Group of Companies congratulates Tomsk oil workers on the 30th anniversary of the "black pearl" of Vasyugan, wishes further success and expresses professional appreciation for the collaborative work towards the development of oil and gas industry.
The ENERGAS Group made a concrete contribution to the implementation of the Tomskneft gas program. At the four preliminary water removal units of Sovietskoye and Vakhskoye fields, vacuum compressor stations operate for transportation of the low-pressure associated gas. And at the GTPP-12 of Igolsko-Talovoye field, the ENERGAS booster compressor station provides additional purification, compression and supply of APG to the gas turbines of the power plant.

REFERENCE:
On January 13, 2021, Tomskneft celebrated its 55th anniversary. The company carries out oil and gas production at 32 licensed sites in the Tomsk Region and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, as well as at three sites of Rosneft Oil Company as operator. Among the most significant fields are Nizhnevartovsk, Strezhevskoye, Vakhskoye, Luginetskoye, Olenye, Sovietskoye, Krapivinskoye, Dvurechenskoye, Igolsko-Talovoye, Pervomaiskoye.
