The ENERGAS vacuum compressor stations have passed a five-year milestone of efficient operation at the Tomskneft facilities

Since July 2015, the ENERGAS vacuum compressor stations (VCS) have been providing the maximum possible rational use of low-pressure associated gas at a number of JSC Tomskneft facilities in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area: preliminary water removal unit No. 9 (PWRU-9) of Sovietskoye field, PWRU-4 and PWRU-5 of Vakhskoye field.



VCSs are made on the basis of screw oil-filled compressors. Process units compress APG of the second separation stage from close to the vacuum pressure (0.001…0.01 MPa) to the gas pressure of the first separation stage (0.6 MPa) for transportation to the gas distribution station and gas compressor station GCS Vakh. According to the project requirements, the vacuum CSs operate at minimum capacity – 360 m3 / h. The gas flow rate is controlled by a two-level regulation system.

There are several issues that make low-pressure APG compression process complicated. Among them: need for additional associated gas purification, risk of condensate dropout inside the gas system, negative impact of very low inlet pressure, changes of the gas composition. Therefore, technological problem of APG pumping was solved here on the basis of a set of special engineering solutions.

In particular, the gas final purification at the compressor inlet is performed by a highly efficient two-stage filter-scrubber (with a system of automatic drainage) integrated in the unit's block-module.



At the design stage, there were carried out a detailed analysis of the gas composition and calculations in special software that creates a theoretical model of the behavior of a gas under certain conditions (temperature and pressure). This made it possible to determine the optimal operating temperature parameters of oil and gas, for which compression processes runs out of the condensation zone.

In the oil system of units are used special lubricants with higher viscosity and high resistance to saturation from the heavy hydrocarbons.Suction line is equipped with quick-acting valves with electric actuators and spring failsafe closing devices, that allows to cut off the compressor station gas circuit from the gas inlet pipeline.

VCSs were designed and manufactured taking into account the climatic conditions of the region and are aimed for intensive operation. Special alloys and anti-corrosion materials were used in the production. It was performed redundancy of some components and assemblies. Block-modular units are housed in their own all-weather shelters; are equipped with life support systems and safety systems as well as automated control system. Operation mode as a part of facilities is continuous.



Since January 2017, the similar ENERGAS VCS has been operating as a part of another one Tomskneft facility – PWRU-3 of Sovietskoye field. In total, at the production sites of the enterprise, low-pressure APG is pumped by nine vacuum compressor stations.

JSC Tomskneft carries out oil and gas production at 32 licensed sites in the Tomsk Region and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, as well as at three sites of Rosneft Oil Company as an operator. Among the most significant fields are Nizhnevartovsk, Strezhevskoye, Vakhskoye, Luginetskoye, Olenye, Sovietskoye, Krapivinskoye, Dvurechenskoye, Igolsko-Talovoye, Pervomaiskoye. Rosneft and Gazprom Neft equally control the company.
