In Astrakhan, CCGT-235 was launched. The fuel enters the turbines through the ENERGAS gas treatment and gas supply system

A new power facility – combined cycle gas turbine unit (CCGT) – with a capacity of 235 MW of LUKOIL-Astrakhanenergo was put into operation in Astrakhan today at the industrial site of "Centralnaya" boiler station. The president of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov arrived in the region to participate in the opening ceremony. Together with Governor Alexander Zhilkin, they included the symbolic switch of the new CCGT.The Astrakhan region is an energy-deficient region: more than a third of the consumed electric energy comes from the Volgograd power grid. At the same time, a characteristic feature in recent years has been the fact that the value of the summer maximum of consumption is approaching the winter one. With the launch of the CCGT, the problem of energy deficit is practically solved – the flows from the power system of the Volgograd region are reduced three-fold (from 330 MW at the beginning of the year to 104 MW for today).
CCGT-235 is based on two single-turbine units and is equipped with highly efficient equipment of leading Russian and foreign manufacturers. Within each power unit there are:
- 2 LM6000 PF Sprint gas turbine units of General Electric (with nominal rating capacity of 47 MW), complete with generators;
- 2 waste-heat boilers produced by CJSC Energomash (Belgorod);
- Steam turbine produced by OJSC Kaluga Turbine Plant (with a nominal rating capacity of 23 MW).

In comparison with previous thermal power plants, modern combined-cycle technologies will reduce the specific fuel consumption by 1.5 times and reduce harmful emissions by almost 3 times. The generating process at CCGT is fully automated and it meets all requirements for reliability and safety.
The unit operates on local natural gas, which is extracted and processed by the enterprise Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan.
Among the conditions for the efficient operation of CCGT, LUKOIL-Astrakhanenergo takes special attention to high-quality treatment of fuel gas. This function is assigned to a gas supply system based on block-type gas treatment unit (BGTU) and a booster compressor station of four units.
The functional parameters of the compressor units in combination with BGTU capabilities guarantee the required gas quality and uninterrupted fuel supply to the turbines of the combined cycle gas turbine unit at a pressure of 4.9 MPa.
BGTU is equipped with a gas filtration system (with a condensate drainage unit), a gas metering station (with two full flow metering lines and a low flow metering line), a chromatograph for determining the composition and calorific value of gas.

All the subassemblies and elements of BGTU are integrated on a single frame; the climatic conditions of the region allowed to place the equipment inside the easy-to-assemble enclosure. As a result, the construction and installation work was optimized and completed in a short time.
Transmission of data on fuel consumption and calorific value to the gas supply company via GSM network is provided by the hardware and software complex located in the BGTU control compartment. The rated capacity of the gas treatment unit is 52,000 m3 / h.
After preliminary treatment, the gas flow is directed to four compressor units (CU), located in pairs – two for each power unit. The maximum gas flow rate of each CU is 13,000 m3 / h.

Gas flow rate is controlled by the capacity control system (CCS). CCS is specially designed for the joint operation of compressor units with gas turbines and it consists of two control levels. The first one controls the position of the compressor slide valve and allows you to adjust the capacity in the range of 15 to 100%, what ensures high efficiency of the CU even at partial loads. The second level – bypass control system – prevents a sudden increase in pressure, and it also allows the CU to operate in recirculation mode. Together, the two levels provide regulation in the entire range from 0 to 100%. The main components of CCS are a digital controller, a bypass valve with electric drive, a hydraulically actuated slide valve.
The gas facilities of CCGT-235 also include a mobile nitrogen unit and an air compressor station.
For effective control, monitoring and safe operation of this process equipment, a full two-level automated control system – ACS of gas facilities (ACS GF) – is used.
The main elements of the ACS GF are the following: local control systems of BCS and BGTU, relay panels for automation of instrument air compressors and nitrogen generators, control cabinet, the operator workstation, emergency shutdown control panel. The unified complex is equipped with modern software and integrated with the upper level of the APCS of boiler station "Centralnaya".

The supply of the gas supply system and ACS GF was carried out by the ENERGAS Company. The entire cycle of adjusting and commissioning of the equipment was performed by the engineers of LLC ServicENERGAS (a member of the ENERGAS Group).
