Fuel gas treatment facility for the GTPP of Verh-Tarskoye field: 3 years of trouble-free operation after upgrade

Gas-turbine power plant (GTPP) is included in the total energy supply system of Verh-Tarskoye oil field; it provides electricity for industrial facilities of the field, central production facility and rotational camp. The owner of the object is Novosibirskneftegaz JSC.

GTPP is operating in simple cycle. Generating equipment consists of two gas turbine units (GTU) Centrax of type СX501-КВ7 on the base of Rolls-Royce turbines with unit capacity of 5.2 MW. Fuel for power plant is associated petroleum gas, produced at the field.

Purification, compression and fuel supply to the GTU is provided by fuel gas treatment facility, consisting of two complexes – FGTF-1 and FGTF-2. At the heart of each FGTF is booster compressor unit (BCU) of screw type in packaged design. BCUs with capacity of 2,700 m3 / h each are designed for compression of associated gas from 0.4 MPa to the required operating pressure of 2 MPa.


In 2015, the company ServicENERGAS (ENERGAS Group) has carried out upgrade FGTF. Technical specialists have commissioned a FGTF-2, which was previously in standby; they equipped it with automated control system; they installed fire detection system, firefighting equipment and safe equipment operation system; they performed debugging of gas detection system. Fuel gas treatment facility was also equipped with ACS of upper level to ensure automatic management and operational control of compressor units.

From the date of commissioning, the trouble-free operating time of FGTF-1 was counted more than 24,000 hours; the run time of FGTF-2 is more than 20,000 hours. In the course of operation, engineers of ServicENERGAS LLC, according to the agreed schedule with the customer, carry out their comprehensive maintenance.

At present there is completed regular routine maintenance. The following scheduled works were performed:
  • Replacement of consumables (gas and oil filters, oil in the bearings of the motors);
  • Check the alignment of rotating units (compressors and motors);
  • Gaps measure and checking the status of the internal components of the compressors;
  • Adjustment and calibration of position sensors and positioning of valves and hydraulic controllers;
  • Functional tests of the oil system and cooling system of the compressor units;
  • Verification of operational parameters of the BCS and their adjustment;
  • Troubleshooting; issuing recommendations on components replacement.
Service activities have been implemented with sequential switching off of compressor units, what provided non-stop operation of the whole FGTF and accordingly power plant. Maintenance results are confirmed in the technical report of performed maintenance service.

REFERENCE. Verh-Tarskoye oil field (VTOF) is located in the northern part of the Novosibirsk region. The field was discovered in 1970; the commercial oil production is begun since 2000. It is considered the largest field in the region.

One of the features of VTOF is large distance from the communications, which poses a major difficulty in the development of hydrocarbon reserves in the Novosibirsk region. Oil produced at VTOF on its properties is close to the brand Brent, characterized by minimal amounts of impurities, it is low-paraffin and sweet crude. During the processing of the oil output of light fractions is to 25% higher than the average for Russia.

The field is developed by Novosibirskneftegaz, which also has a license to develop the Rakitinsky, Mezhovsky and East-Mezhovsky license areas.
