Surgutneftegas: flares go out – APG goes to work

25 December 2011

Surgutneftegas OJSC is successfully implementing measures for the rational use of associated petroleum gas. Booster compressor stations of low pressure have been put into operation at the Oil Processing and Pumping Shop (OPPS) and Oil Verification Department (OVD) of the Fedorovskneft oil and gas production department. As part of these BCS there are operating four units in the Arctic version, designed for final treatment, compression and injection of APG into the transport pipeline.

A similar low-pressure BSC consisting of the two units is launched at the Oil Processing and Pumping Shop of the Lyantorneft oil and gas production department. At all facilities, the commissioning of booster compressor equipment was commissioned by ENERGAS specialists. As a result, it was possible to make maximum use of associated gas from low separation stages.

The peculiarity of the technological process is that the compressor units (CU) pump gas with zero pressure. The task is solved according to a special project developed on the basis of a set of agreed engineering solutions.

In particular, CUs are equipped with high-speed input valves, what allows cutting off the inlet pipeline from the main line and preventing the oil slobbering from the oil system into the inlet filter-scrubber.

When working "under vacuum", the units receive heavy gas, which tends to condensate formation, at this it is dissolving in the oil and nullifying its properties. To eliminate this problem, more viscous oil is used, and compression takes place at an elevated temperature.

Given the lack of inlet pressure, each unit is equipped with an oxygen detection system with a sensor to monitor its content in the gas stream.
